happy new year

here are a few pictures from my last shoot for 2011. new years eve doesn’t mean much to me now that i have children, as i’m usually in bed well before midnight (ha ha). but i am excited about 2012 and all the wonderful changes and surprises it will bring. thank you to all my clients for their support this year and i look forward to more fun with you guys in 2012. x

SAY CHEESE! i never ask my clients to say cheese. but sometimes they do it anyway. and it always makes me laugh.

jack & baby henry

i had these two gorgeous brothers in my studio last week. 2 year old jack brought along his lovey “woof” to have his photo taken too. i love it when precious stuffed animals come along to photoshoots – because, at the end of the day, they are part of the family too. henry was placid and happy and quite enjoyed having his picture taken. jack was shy but really didn’t want to miss out on some camera time. gorgeous, gorgeous boys… mum & dad have a good recipe there.:-)

lee + mark = ♡

lee & mark were married in a beautiful ceremony on a little sheltered beach. it was a hot day but the wind was blowing just the right amount – cooling the beach down and carrying the soft notes from the string ensemble around the beach.  it was a touching and sweet ceremony, and even though the photographer isn’t supposed to get emotional i couldn’t help but swallow a lump in my throat when they read out their own beautifully written vows. lee’s older sister, and bridesmaid, was due to have her baby on the day of the wedding. happily her baby has no regard for the rules and so she was there with a big bump and a big smile.

as you have probably guessed, by my business name, i have a soft spot for the writings of A.A. Milne. so i smiled when mark’s sister read out the following excerpt during the wedding ceremony: ”A soul mate is someone who has locks that fit our keys, and keys to fit our locks. When we feel safe enough to open the locks, our truest selves step out and we can be completely and honestly who we are; we can be loved for who we are and not for who we’re pretending to be. Each unveils the best part of the other. No matter what else goes wrong around us, with that one person we’re safe in our own paradise. Our soul mate is someone who shares our deepest longings, our sense of direction. When we’re two balloons, and together our direction is up, chances are we’ve found the right person. Our soul mate is the one who makes life come to life.”  – from Now We Are Six by A.A Milne.

congrats mark & lee. x

fremantle, ice-creams & sunshine

meet the hall’s.  they love to spend their weekends wondering the lovely old streets of fremantle and playing on the beach, so this sunday i tagged along to capture them doing what they do best. they are are such a loving family, and as you can see, they have a lot of fun together. i told rachel after the shoot that it’s such a privelege to be asked to take the family portraits – to capture them naturally… rather than all standing in a straight line smiling at the camera. as a photographer i get stand back and witness the deep connections between people & (hopefully) that special bond and love shines through in the images.
